KAIMIRO.

/From Our Own Correspondent.! April 17.—How dangerous some of these old wooden bridges are was fully proved yesterday morning. Hr. Oscar i’eDors, driving his milk cart to the local creamery over the old Mangaraka bridge on the Leppor Road, had the misfortune to get a valuable horse injured, both its forelegs going through the decking of the bridge. It is high time that a new bridge was erected, as the old structure is getting very tender. The settlers held their annual meeting last night for the purpose of electing the Hall Committee. The meeting was well attended. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £lO. The outgoing committee, was re-elected, complimentary remarks being much in evidence. A proposal is or. foot to enlarge the hall by building a supper-room, which is very much needed. We are very fortunate in having a real live committee, and they have got plenty to show for their labour. The Kaimiro Sports Club came out with a credit balance of £35 16s 9d. The young Kaimiro ires who run our local affairs deserve great credit tor their management; everything they undertake turns out a success. On the 26th instant a social will bo held in the hall, and during the evening the medals (three) won at our last sports gathering will be presented to the winners of same. , An offer of a black cat from here will shortly bo made to the ship s company of the Torra Nova, to replace the immortal “Nigger.” w Weather fine; wind N.N.W.
