TRAINING FARMERS.

A NEW PROPOSAL. Per Press Association, WELLINGTON, April 16. “My desire as Minister for Agriculture,’’ said tho Prime Minister to a reporter to-day, “is to establish at our agricultural experimental farh.l facilities for young men to learn farming.” The statement was apropos of the fact that the Cabinet had authorised the expenditure of a sum of money for the erection of apprentices’ quarters at the Weraroa farm. The Prime Minister went on to state that the building would be of moderate size, and would include a room in which lectures would be given by officers of the Department. The laris would give their work for the first throe months in exchange for their hoard and training, and for tho next throe months they would receive a slight remuneration, and future allowances would increase in proportion to their industry and ability. Ho hoped to widen the. system so as to include other State properties. Ho wanted to afford facilities for quite a number of young men of good stamp to learn the practical work of farming, supplemented by lectures and other means of instruction.
