(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 10.—The first of a series of euchr© parties during the winter months was held in the hall on Wednesday last,; there being twelve. tables. The ladies’ prize, a butter dish, was won by Mrs. S. Sarten, and the gentleman’s, a .moustache cup, by Mr. Amo Pa'tu. These euchres are to be held fortnightly. Threshing operations are at a standstill owiqig to the wet weather. Talking of threshing reminds me that the Waitara West Road Board decided at its Inst meeting to interview the users' of the Whitara Road re support to its upkeep. Threshing machines. the owners of which reside outside the district use this road a good deal, and only a week»or so ago one machine made six or seven trips up the said road, threshing and carting the produce of one fancier.

I would also like to draw the attention of the Railway Department to the unsatisfactory loading or unloading r>hcp At the Waitara Road Station. At present the space alloWl v* about one chain, a loading stag© at on© end' and an open drain the otheriDuring the busy season its almost impossible to work the trucks. Last week I sawh man unload coal having to back his dray between the drain and the line, a space of about six feet. The department could easily alter it by shifting the loading stage further on or putting in a few more pipes and fillin'?: the drain at the other end. Milk is coming in fairly well both at the Waitara Road factory and Felly Road creamery, the best at the factory ranging from *4.3 to 6.1. Feed is plentiful. and ample provision is mad© on mosi farms for the winter months with hay. mangolds and carrots.
