PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

The monthly meeting was held on Wednesday, April 10. Present: Messrs. Young (chairman), Harvey*, Leahy, Ducker and T. Willcox. -The minutes of the meeting of March 14 were confirmed. The foreman reported having inspected the Bayly Road. He suggested four chains of taking down a hill and six chains forming and metalling, and filling over hollow, and a pipe culvert, to cost about £BO. The board decided that the foreman have the metalled portions of 'road repaired as soon as he can attend to it, the other work to stand over-for the new board to deal with. Messrs. Harvo.y and Ducker wero appointed to interview settlers on Pungarehu Road re moving the fences, and endeavour to arrange terms. Mr. Sorrensen waited on the board and asked for work on Ihaia Road. He pointed out that the road account was in a good position, but the road was in a very bad state.—The foreman reported that it would take quite £IOO to put it in repair.—The hoard directed the foreman to put the staff on as soon as he can and do work up to £9O. The board appointed James Spence ranger from the Oaomii River to the southern boundary of road district, and T. Conroy to be relieved of that part. Mr. Davey waited on the board to ask how rates from lauds adjacent to the Kameora Road deviation were to be allocated for spending.—The chairman assured Mr. Davey that the rates would be allocated to the nearest road according to the board’s system.

Mr. Corrie asked permission to put a gate across the end of a blind road, to prevent cattle straying.—The hoard offered no objection to a gate being, fixed at his own risk.

The foreman was directed to hare the pound fence repaired at once. The board agreed to spend £2 on Newall Road, provided Mr. T. Julia* does the balance of work necessary to make the road passable. The annual election for Rahotu, Pungarehu and Warea wards was fixed for May 2. ; The annual meeting of the board asd the annual meeting of ratepayers was fixed for the same date also.

The foreman reported ho had arranged with the settlers on Capo Road to do the carting of one day’s crushing for repairs ; that the contract for formation on Lower Waiheika Road has been completed ; that a culvert has been fixed on Stent Road; and the usual repair work to other roads.

Accounts amounting to £194 were passed.
