THE NEW OIL COMPANY.

Writing yesterday up° n the prospectus of the Taranaki Oil Wells, Ltd., we ventured the opinion that it was a proposition which might commend itself even to cautious investors as sound and likely to pay good dividends in the near future. Also We stated that there was every prospect of the experienced management required to secure success being promptly supplied. This morning Mr. H. J. Brown received from London a cable, which will bo found in full in another column, stating that already a premium is being offered on the Loudon Sltock Exchange for the company’s shares, though the prospectus has only just been issued. Mr. Brown is also advised not to promise full allotments in New Zealand, because the issue is likely to be considerably over-subscribed. This bears out the opinion we expressed of the prospects- Further than that, the cable states that the dispatch of drilling machinery and refinery is being hurried as much as possible, which goes to show that the directors are confident of a successful flotation, and are determined to lose no time in commencing operations hero on a very extensive scale, and so bring the company at the earliest possible moment to that stage when it will be able to return substantial dividends to the shareholders.
