A BISHOP’S OPINION.

The Bishop of Oxford (Dr. Gore) states that wages will no longer settle themselves by the law of supply and demand. A proper basis of the reconstruction of society is the principle that adequate payment for labour should be a first charge upon industry. A permanent standard wage would doubtless entail the demand for a standard of efficiency in the worker.
