FOOTBALL.

Our Eltham correspondent writes that an ettort will bo made to get the annual meeting of the Eltham Rugby Football Club off next Thursday. The meeting was to have been held last week, but owing to the holidays the committee deemed it prudenh to wait till after Easter. Of last year’s seniors here Narbey seems the only player available, as Potier, M'Leod, and Glover are out of the district, Robinson, O’Sullivan, and Cooper are Northern Union players, and the remainder say they have had enough. There may be some fresh faces round this way ready to take on the game. , "That the secretary be instructed to write to the late secretary allowing him a week to return all books,” reads a resolution passed at the annual meeting of a club (football) near Eltham. To the uninitiated it may be said that there cannot be anything “fishy” in this resolution, as, excepting perhaps Waimate, football clubs down this way are as poor in funds as the proverbial church mouse. Owing to Okaiawa and Kaponga playing in red and black jerseys (Stratford’s colours), the Kaponga loams have decided _ to wear red, white, and , blue this winter. This makes the third change the Kaponga players have gone into, as during the 1900 season a wave of patriotism caused them to adopt khaki colours. Probably with the Britishers’ colours up the lads from our neighbouring vlllaga may put more vim into their play and bring the new colours to the top of the championship flag this season.
