The concluding day’s play in the fourth round of senior grade cricket matches fit Auckland was favoured with splendid weather. Eden, who had five wickets down for 323 in the first innings on the previous Saturday, declared the innings closed without going to the wickets again, and dismissed University (first innings) for 221, Eden thus winning on the first innings. Graham (75 not out), Jacobsen (46), and 'Taylor (23) wore ’Varsity’s host scorers. Bowling for Eden. Hay took throe wickets for 43, and Mills three for 30, Eden balled again, and .-cored 46 for one wicket. Parnell beat North Shore on the first innings, Shore scaring 150 (Sale 53, Bush 25) to ParnolS’s first innings’ score of 231. Bowling for Parnell, Olifl tool: six wickets for OS. and Kerr four for 04. Batting again. Parnell made 00 for live wickets (Sutherland 18), Townsend taking four wickets for 30 runs. In ihe Grafton-Pcnsonby match, Grafton, who had made 174 for six wickets on the first day, were dismissed for n local of 199. Poiisonby won on the first innings, they replying with 230 for eight wickets (Wilson 57. Kavanagh 3-6, R. C. Sneddon 28). Another round of the first grade cricket competition was started in Christchurch, hut play had in close early on account of heavy rain. Scores: East Christchurch (59 for three wickets) r. OUivier, W. R. Patrick, D. Reese, A. Sims, and D. Sandman. A match was played on the Wellington College ground on Saturday, between teams of prospective representatives of Wellington. A team scored 166, the highest scorers being S. Hickson (39), Blamires (34 retired), and Fenton (24). Bowles and Crombie were playing for A team, and scored 14 and 9 respectively, B team made 150, the highest scorers being Patrick (43), Staples (24 not out), and Finlayson (24 retired). In the match Pefcone v. East B, the latter team with a leeway of 88 runs on the first innings, followed on, and were disposed of before their opponents’ -first innings’ total was reached, the winners, thus obtaining a three-point win. Petone scored IS9 in their first innings, and East B made 101 and 68. Tho selectors, Messrs. Blamiros, Blacklock and Tucker, have chosen the following for Wellington against Hawke’s Bay at Christmas: Beechy (captain), Brice, Bin ini res, Borendsen, Patrick, Fenton. Gibbes, M a bony, Naugbton. Findlay, and Saunders. In the inter-collegiate match Wellington College beat Wanganui by 25 runs, Wellington scored 176 and 149, and Wanganui 162 and 138.
