Mr. Lloyd George’s assailant was Allan M'Dougall, aged 18, a member of the Social and Political Union. The Chancellor of the Exchequer appeared with a black eye and gave evidence. At his request the magistrate reduced the charge to one of common assault. M'Dougall was sentenced to two months' hard labour.
