PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho ordinary monthly meeting was held on Thursday, December i-1, at Rahotu. All tho members were present, namely: Messrs. J. Voting (cuairman), Potter, Harvey, Duckor, \\ illcox and Leahy. 'ihe minutes having been confirmed, Messrs. Mount ami Uoodwia waned on the board to atk for '6\. chains ot lonuation and metalling on the Pungarehu Road, and offered the use of a team for the work.—The board decided that tho finances would not stand the whole work, but that the foreman do Toll worth of work to the best advantage. The foreman reported on tho work done during the month, and the conditions generally of the roads. It was resolved to call tenders for 18 chains metalling on Manila Road to he in by next meeting. The contractor for No. 81 to be given notice that if the work is not started iu four days from this date the deposit will be forfeited and work re-let. The matter of the lease of tho pound paddock was brought up and a committee was set up to make inquiries and report. A ratepayers’ consent was put in in connection with the proposal to raise a joint loan of £I3OO (with tho M erekino Road Board) to finish the metalling of tho Puniho Road..—The board authorised the clerk to proceed to raise tho loan, and that the Weiekino Road Board have tho control of tlm work, Fiihject to tho inspection of this board's foreman. Tho Public Trustee forwarded uicquo for £3 16s 7d. being all the funds he had to moot the rate demand for £7l on lands held by him for Maoris. Settlers on Stent Road sliced for some draining and metalling,—Resolved that tho foreman report on the matter to next meeting. Mr, Claris again drew attention to the impassable stale of the Vaiteka Road, near tho Eltham Road.— Ihe foreman said it would take £6O to make n cart Hack through the had place.— The bear'd directed the foreman to ha\o tho work clone, tenders to be in by next meeting. The question of Mr. A\ illeox's legality on the board was again brought up, and opinions were read from Malone, Anderson and Johnstone mid Mr. Roy hearing on the matter.—-Mr. Wiilcox said he could get his name put on tho roll by yriting to Wellington,—-Mr. Leahy then moved that if Mr. Wiilcox does not got his name reinstated by next meeting of the hoard, immediate action he taken to test the legality ot his sitting as a member. The-clerk was directed to arrange for paying out wages on the 21st mst. Accounts amounting to £l6B vere passed.
