DOCTORS AND INSURANCE. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Dec. 15, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 14. A referendum of 32,000 doctors on the Insurance Bill has commenced. ECONOMY IMPOSSIBLE. (Received Dec. 15, 10.35 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 14. Mr. Lloyd George, in the House of Commons, said there was little hope of a reduction in expenditure. In the House of Commons, which alone could effect economy, they were always pressed for greater expenditure. If Parliament wanted economy it must mould the foreign policy in such a way as to render an increase of armaments unnecessary. The Government hoped to reduce the national debt by i.i 0,500,000 this year, making a reduction of eighty millions during its tenure of office. THE QUESTION OF FINANCE. LONDON, Dec. 14. In the House of Commons during the Finance Bill debate, Mr. Chamberlain complained that the House of Commons had not discussed finance for j three years. i Mr. Lloyd George replied that cco- i nomy was not a popular subject, PARLIAMENTARY HOLIDAYS. Parliament will bo prorogued on Saturday, and reassembles on February 14. A deputation accepted the Premier’s i promise to set up a committee on the j Estimates.
