FOUND DEAD,

Per Press Association. NAPIER, August 28. John O’Brien, a very old resident at the Port, was found dead in an outhouse of the Crown Hotel. Deceased was of very temperate habits, and death was probably due to heart disease. Bank deposit slips for £IO2O were found in a pocket in his clothes.

FOUND DROWNED. DUNEDIN, August 28 % Marion M'Kinnon, a widow at St.Clair, aged VS. disappeared this morning, anci later her dead body was found washed up on the beach.

A SUDDEN DEATH. PALMERSTON N\. August 28. A woman name:! Mrs. Emily Knowles, who was sniicring Irom bruises, thought to have been caused through tailing while in a lit, was taken to a hoardinghouse on Saturday night. Her condition indicated the eflects of alcoholic poisoning, and yesterday morning she was taken to the hospital, -whore she died suddenly shortly aiier examination. A post mortem examination was conducted and an inquest opened and adjourned till to-morrow, to enable further inquiries to be made.

MOTOR COLLISION. 'mi'ARV. August 26. On Friday evening, about 0 o’clock, Hedley Abbot, of Pareora, when motoring with two friends, Handscn and Haynes, collided with a horse and trap near the Pareoru River. The trap was smashed, and the car much damaged. Wearing, the driver of the trap, had his collarbone broken, and Hanson, was cut about the face and had some teeth knocked out. The ethers were unhurt. The accident occurred at a spot where it is the habit of traffic going both ways to "shave” the corner.

REPORTED SUICIDE. MASTERTON. August 28. It is reported that the body of a man named Michael Byrne has been found in a creek at To Wliarau, the circumstances pointing to suicide. Deceased had been employed as a labourer by Mr. Cameron, of Flat Point station. No particulars are to hand.
