THE DENNISTON DISASTER. Her Press Association. WESTPORT, Oct. 27. Mon have been at work day and night in clearing the fall away in' the Wooclend section of the Westport Coal Company’s Denniston mine, where the accident occurred yesterday, and have readied the coal tubs without discovering the bodies of the two missing men. It is now necessary to strengthen the coal before proceeding further. Mr. Dixon anticipates recovering the bodies to-morrow. Oct. 28. Since the fall in the wooden bridge section of tiic Coalbrookdalo colliery on Wednesday burying Muir and Bowers, work has continuously proceeded towards the recovery of the bodies, but up to noon they had not boon reached. A new cut in the solid had to bo made to approach tho scone of the accident, timbered all the way. Tho coal output from the mine is suspended, A WOMAN DROWNED. AUCKLAND, Oct. 27. The body of Mrs. Blandford, the wife of a telegraph linesman, residing at Mercer, was found in the Waikato River to-day. The woman, who had boon iu delicate health for some time, left her home on Thursday of last week, and as she did not return her absence occasioned anxiety. Search parties sot out, but all efforts to trace her proved fruitless till to-day, when tho body was seen floating in the river.
