TARANAKI DISTRICT SYNOD. WEDNESDAY’S SESSION. Tho synod continued its sessions on Wednesday. . A lengthv discussion took place on the following remits from the New Plymouth circuit: (a) That this church re-affirm the decision of the Dunedin Conference of 1908 upon the question of Methodist union, that a letter ho sent to the next conference of the Methodist Church of Now Zealand informing them of onr desire for union, and expressing our willingness to enter into negotiations for union, and to confer with anv committee they may set up in devising a basis of union for submission to the members through the quarterly boards; . (h) That a representative committee bo set up to meet mid confer with any rommittoo appointed by tho Methodist Church of New Zealand in framing a basis of union ; , (c) That tho basis of union when adopted hv tho committee he forwarded through the executive to the respective stations prior to the September quarterly meetings, so that tho matter may be fnllv discussed and come up for final settlement at the conference of 1912. It'was unanimously decided that the remits be sent on for insertion in the agenda sheet for the 1911 conference. The Rev. B. Mctson and Mr. C. E. Bellringer were appointed to the staHoning committee. Rev S Dnilev, of Wnnpanm, was recommended to the conference as district representative. Mr. A. v_nrm;y was appointed district Sunday School ap Wangnnui was selected as the place for the next synod. Resolutions were passed dealing with the licensing and gambling questions,, also in.-reference in the opium traffic. Mr S B. Maiden, of Wanganui, and W. Caiman, of Inglewood, were recommended to the conference as home missionaries, with a view to becoming candidates for the ministry. Votes of thanks were accorded the friends of Eitzroy for their kind provision for the comfort of the delegates. Tho returns presented showed an increase of 20 members, one new church erected, and another in couiso of erection.
