THE FARMERS’ UNION.

NEED FOR ORGANISATION OF VOTERS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 26. A report was .submitted to-day al the meeting of tho executive of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union which stated that the organisation of voters in other industries necessitated that farmers should organise for their own protection politically, independent of party, since politicians largely form their opinions to suit tho largest organised section of voters. To carry out this organisation a fund should bo established to be called the ‘‘Farmers’ Political Protection Fund,” and that a committee of five should be appointed by the executive to administer it and arrange for carrying out tho work of the organisation by appointing organisers and in other ways. The report was adopted, and it was decided to refer it to ail branches in tho provincial district for the earliest consideration and report to tho executive. Tho executive decided, as regards Air, F. H. Taylor’s Property Law Amendment Bill, to take no action, ns they did not believe that such an open act’ of confiscation as that proposed in tho Bill would receive serious-considera-tion from public men. Regarding Afr. Al‘Laron’s Bill to amend the Farm Labourers’ Accommodation Act in the direction of providing that employers should keep accommodation in a clean and healthy condition, the executive decided that employees should ho compelled to keep their sleeping quarters clean.
