In tho House of Representatives, dealing with tho Constitution Amend- 1 mont Bill, a clause was introduced amending tho Constitution by removing from trade and commerce the power of limitation with other countries and among the States. Mr. Hughes said the onus was on the opponents' to show why tho amendment should not bo made. Mr. Deakin (Opposition) claimed that the central Government was unable to control such a large area, and would never be able to cope with tho work. It would lead to interminable difficulties. Ho would like to see'tho amendments limited to specific matters. Tho debate is proceeding. LABOUR MINISTRY AT WORK. (Received Oct. 27, 9.20 a,m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 27. The Minister of Lauds made deal that the abolition of freehold in lanl would apply only to tho future. Government ■is considering the amendment of the Industrial Disputes Act. The coercive provisions will be repealed. THE LAND TAX BILL. (Received Oct. 27 , 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 27. The Senate is making good progress witli the Land Tax Bill in committee. It has discussed numerous amendments, but so far none of importance has been carried.
