At the Haymarkot on Saturday* a good number of pigs wore penned, and prices were slightly in advance of those of previous week. Woancrs made 7a 6d to 9s Gd, small stores 11s to I4s, stores 16s to 19s, porkers 25s to 265, baconers 3os. A young marc sold for £lO. At Douglas on Monday there was a full yarding, with good inquiry, and nearly everything sold at full market rates. Alixcd yearlings (small) made £2 Is, yearling steers £2 19s, yearling heifers £2 13s 6d to £2 18s 6d, empty heifers £3 13s to £4 2s, store cows £3 7s to £3 18s 6d, forward do. £4 7s to £4 15s, springing cows £0 to £9 10s, springing heifers (small) £4 7s 6d to £5 12s 6d, working bullocks £l4 io £l7 5s per pair, do. poor condition £7 15s to £ll 15s, bulls £3 to £6 15s, hoggets 13s 4d. At Urcnui on the same day there was a small yarding. At Stratford on Tuesday there was a good yarding of store cattle, most lines changing hands at the following prices:—Yearling steers £2 Gs 6d to £3, yearling heifers £2 los to £3 3s, mixed yearlings (good) £3 os, yearling heifers (Holstein and Jersey strain) £3 10s to £3 18s, yearling to 18-months do. £5, empty heifers £3 13s to £4 Is, store cows £2 los to £4, forward do. £4 12s to £5 3d, 2-yeor steers £3 18s 6d. A line of 215 2- to 21-year steers made £4 10s, 3-yoar bullock £o 17s. On the same day there was a good yarding of springing heifers and dairy cows. Heifers close up made £6 10s to £8 15s, later do. £4 15s to £6, dairy cows close up £7 to £lO 10s, later do. up to £5 2s 6d. At Stony River on AVcdncsday there was a full yarding, with a good attendance of buyers. Bidding was brisk throughout, and good prices were realised. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received a cable from London, date 19th inst., stating that the sales opened on that date. Merino skins arc 3d lb lower in value, and crossbred skins lower to extent of d per lb. AIATTHEWS AND BENNETT. Alessrs. Alatthews and Bennett report a fair yarding of cattle at their Inglewood yards uu AVodnesday last.
