THE WARATAH.

A BOGUS MESSAGE. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. SYDNEY, Oct. 0. The forest ranger at Wilson’s Promontory yesterday picked up a bottle near tho South Derby River. The cork was much worn, and tho bottle had apparently been in the water.some time. It contained tho following miessago:—“At sea, latitude 40 south. Tho steamer Waratah broke down August 23, 1909, and is drifting .south. All well, but anxious. Engineers busy.—J. C. Jones, passenger.” Tho message asked the finder to write to “Mrs. Jones, Sydney.”, Inquiries here show that no J. O. Jones was a passenger on tho Waratah, and no Mrs. Jones lives at the address given.
