(From Our Own , Correspondent!)
Sopt. 29.—The school ,children are at present enjoying a: week’s well-earned holiday. Friday evening, the last evening of the term, was brightened, by quite a number of school concerts, excellent entertainments being given at.Egniont Village, Dudley Road, and .Lincoln Road. At Lincoln Road the ,boad teacher,- Mr.“Cumberworth, who 'leaves shortly 1 for Malice, was presented by-the residents and- friends I ’with a watch'. Mr. Martin Sutherland, jun., leaves hero shortly for Fcilding; where he intends to follow his calling: as a saddler. Mr. Sutherland is very well known in musical circles, : and .ho , will be very much missed from Inglewood entertainments. Ho has been for some years organist to the Wesleyan Church, and is a performer of no riiean merit. Mr. Sutherland is also a keen, cricketer, and was at one time captain of the .Inglewood. Juniors, and a prominent ‘player of Association football. , West’s Entertainers showed last night to a moderate but appreciative audience. A shower of rain, which was almost a solid sheet of water, fell here at about mid-day on Sunday. Thq rain was purely local, not a drop falling at New Plymouth or eyen at Waiongona.
