INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 25.—The usual calm of our town has been disturbed by two alarms of fire during this week. Both fires proved to be chirnn.oys, so brigadesmen were given some unnecessary but no doubt beneficial exercise. The Inglewood ladies’ hockey team wore a very -worried and thoughtful look on their return from New Plymouth on Thursday. Can anybody guess the cause? A brake-load of Inglewood Wesleyans journeyed to Midlhrst last night to, attend a bazaar hold there in aid of the local circuit funds. Groat pleasure is felt hero at the news cabled from England of Mr. Henry Brown’s , excellent recovery from the operation recently undergone by him. The Stratford Golf Club sent, a team to Inglewood by Thursday morning’s train. The morning was spent in practice, and during the afternoon a match was played, which resulted in a draw, each 'side securing four games. Thomson, Gudgeon,,Glassford and Gault won games for Inglewood, while Spence, Uniaoke, Paget and Joiics were the successful Stratford players. The past week has been a particularly quiet one in Inglewood, there having boon very little in the way of amusement, premeditated or otherwise.
