FATAL-tRIDING ACCIDENT. Per Press Association. HOKITIKA, Feb. 19. Geo. Gerke, a single man about 60 ' years of age, was killed on Thursday . on the Main South Westland Road, ■ below Cook’s River, through the horse he was riding bolting and going over ! a steep siding. Both rider and horse I were killed. .Deceased was highly re- ; spected and had been a resident of ■ South-Westland for many years. A DOCTOR’S END. AUCKLAND, Feb. 19. A telegram from Ohura reports that Dr. Rowland, resident medico, was found dead last night with the top of , his head blown off. A gun containing a discharged cartridge lay across the body. . ■
