' Patrick Hill, an cx-postal was committed for trial on a charge of subornation of witnesses in the Ronald Harper libel case 1 . Some witnesses deposed, that Hill, who. claimed to be acting on behalf of Harper, offered them considerable. sums andpromised them, permanent situations if they would give; evidence against Ronald: ; ; Ln some instances witnesses deposed, to. having received similar promises from young Harper’.. It was alleged that the evidence they gave in the libel action 'was manufactured and false. Hill, it is said, told one .witness he got £250 from Harper for securing witnesses.' ■
