The vessel was returning to Sydney after towing the Mannrcwa to Newcastle, when she ran into a southerly blow, broke down mid drifted ashore. Tho crew landed safely. The Port Jackson was built at Dunedin. RARAWA’S CARGO. Tiie Rarawa from Onehunga this morning brought 125 tons of general cargo including 10 tons sugar, 2 tons manure, 23 tons flour, 10 tons cement, 300 cases fruit, 2000 feet timber, and 6 racehorses. GERTIE FOR NEW PLYMOUTH. The G Min sailed from Foxton this morning for New Plymouth, via Westport. The vessel should arrive at tho breakwater about Thursday or Friday, when she will discharge 200 tons of coal for this port. A crowd of about fifty business men gathered at the Rialto, Invercargill, at noon, on Wednesday, when Mr. ’William Todd put up the wreck of tho Union S.S. Co.’s ill-faicd Waikare to auction. Bids commenced at £SO, and rose in tens to £IOO. Mr. J. K. Jam ieson (Invercargill) increased it to £l6O, and to £l7O, when Miller Bros. (Port Chalmers) bid £l6O. Tho Port Chalmers firm increased its offer to £IBO, but Mr. Jamieson went up to £2OO, at which business remained at a standstill.
