(From Our Own Correspondent.) Feb. 12.—Bishop Noligan is expected in Inglewood next Thursday for the purpose of conducting it confirmation ceremony. The local cadets leave for 'Wellington on Wednesday, the 23rd, to ho 'inspected by Field Marshal Lord Kitchener. The cadets fully realise the importance of making a good appearance before England’s Commander-in-Chicf, and are training assiduously. ,• : Lieutenant Cdad and Fireman Bcadlo received five years’ service medals at the last meeting of the Inglewood Brigade. Captain Rolston goes to the Hastings conference as Inglewood’s delegate. Weather permitting, the town band will give a concert in the square next Sunday evening after church hours.. Shackloton’s pictures show in the Parish Hall next Wednesday evening. These pictures are from films taken on the groat South Polar expedition. Considering the present state of the weather, pictures of the frozen South should have a very special attraction. I understand that Mr. Henry Brown and family leave very shortly on a trip to England. Mr. Brown is known as the “father of Inglewood,” and his absence will cause a very real blank in IV township. Mr. Brown will carry the very best wishes .of the whole town for a really enjoyable trip. Miss Hudson addressed a meeting of ladies in the Parish Hall on Tucsdav afternoon on the subject of the work in connection with St. Mary’s Home, Auckland. Owing to tho adverse weather tho attendance was not quite np to anticipations, but Miss Hudson, nevertheless, received a, splendid hearing from a most interested audience. Three rinks of Inglewood bowlers journeyed to Hawera on Thursday, hut the Hawera men wore altogether too strong. Inglewood’s score only reaching -14. as against Hawera’s 70. The Waitara Bowling Club is sending four rinks to Inglewood next Thursday. Tho Inglewood and Wait-ora Rifles fired a friendly match on the AVaitnvn range Inst Thursday afternoon.
