AUSTRALIANS v. WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. The match Australia v. Wellington was resumed at two o’clock this afternoon in warm, cloudy weather. Tho wicket wore well. About 4000 people were present, including the Governor and party. The takings for tho two days total £331. The display given by tho'local team was much brighter than yesterday, tho batsmen showing greater confidence. Midlane gave a chanceloss exhibition during his two-and-a-half hours’ stay at the wickets. His defence was superb, while all loose stuff was punished freely on both sides of the wicket. Roberts’ innings was marked by patience and soundness. , Blacklock and Mahoney shaped consistently and briskly. Kinvig played nicely,'executing some fine carpet drives. The fielding of the visitors was generally clean and smart, but their bowling appeared to lack the “devil’! which has earned Armstrong, Win tty and company so great a reputation. Some of the Wellington batsmen throw their wickets away by reckless slogging. Much was expected of Bardsloy in tlio batting lino when tho visitors resumed their first innings, but ho quickly fell a victim to an l.b.w. decision to Patrick. Scores: WELLINGTON,—First Innings. F.
