TRICKS OF TRADE.

IMITATION OF BRITISH GOODS. The insidious methods of foreign competition are amusingly illustrated, says Router, by the following list of fraudulent marks recently traced and dealt with by the British Chamber of Commerce in Paris. The examples are taken from the Chamber’s monthly circular, which also makes detailed reference to the importation of Italian straw hats marked "London” and bearing the British Royal Arms:— , Gorman embroidery crochets, marked: “W. Prickle and Sons Superfine Crochet Needles, llodditch.” "Wool felt hats (Gorman origin) marked : “Superior Manufacture, London.” Belgian hones, marked: “Best in the world,- does not glaze.” Silk and cotton neckties (German origin), marked: “Highclass Manufacturer.” Varnish, manufactured in Franco, marked: “Horley, Sydney Works, Hereford.” (We are informed that no such firm exists in Engiund-I Belgian boots, marked; “Tho Elite Shoo, Good-year,Welt.” Italian straw hats, marked': “Bo bien en Mionx, J. W. Robert Sons” (Trade Mark). (“Sic.”) Tulle crowns for ladies’ hats (Italian origin), marked; “London,” “Four in Hand,” “London Stylo.” Italian felt hats, marked: “S. W. Brock and Co., Piocadily, London.” Felt hats of Belgian origin, marked “Stockport,” Lathes manufactured in France, marked; “Sheffield.” Motor car accessories, marked;—“Coventry” this latter term registered as a trade mark. French perfumed soap, exported in labels closely imitating those of a British manufacturer.
