Two Australian cargoes sold at 38s 6d and 39s 6d respectively. Holders aro asking 38s 10jd for steamer parcels January-Fobruary shipment. Flour has little business; best Australian patents on passage are quoted at 28s 6cl to'2Bs 9d c.i.f'. Barley neglected Australian maltjng 25s to 23s 3d ex store. Oafts, fair trade in New Zealand gartons at 19s 3d to 225, sparrowbills 18s 9d to 20s 6d, La Plata quiet, April shipment quoted at 15s. Danish.—Although arrivals this week wore smaller, tho market has been of rather a holiday character, and tho quote has therefore been reduced 3 kroner. French.—Customers aro gradually leaving this class of butter for colonial, wliich now shows infinitely bettor value. ' Australian.—Last week’s arrivals were all well cleared, and tho s.s. Orontes arrived in good time, lint owing to tho holidays, none of her butter was on the market until Wednesday. Buyers, anticipating lower quotations for Danish,' held off the market for a dav or two, in hopes of buying at loss than last week, but agents, feeling that the position was sound, and that buyers generally had very little stock, were in no hurry to sell, with the result that at the* end of tho week, in spite of the reduction in Danish, the butters have sold well, and prices have been maintained, so that wo think tho future looks very healthy. - New Zealand. —There has been practically none on tho market this week, and 'buyers aro waiting for the s.s. Rimutaka, which is expected to dock to-day or to-morrow. Already there are some sellers anxious to dispose of their butters, and there are numerous offers at 110 s, and wo jicar of sales having been made at less money. Argentine.—There' has been no arrival this week, and anything that was left over from last week is now cleared. CHEESE. Canadian.—There is no change to report. Trade continues Quiet. New Zealand.—The shipment nor s.s. Tainui is not quite cleared, and there has been very little trade doing this week. However, with tho arrival of the s.s. Rimutaka, no doubt interest will be revived. VICKERS AND STEVENS. Messrs.. Vickers and Stevens report that there was a fair muster cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last. Bidding was good for all classes. Woanors made from £1 to £1 7s, yearlings £l 14s Gd to £1 18s Cd, in calf heifers £3 10s to £3 18s, store cows £2 os to £3 12s 6d, fat cows £4 K)s, springers £3 12s Gd to £5 7s Gd, bulls £2 to £3. At tho opening fair at Matnu about 4000 sheep were yarded, nearly all of which were sold. ; There was a good attendance of buyers, and bidding - was good for all lines shown. Lambs madeCs 5d to 7s lid, 2-tooth wethers 10s to Ha Del, 2-tooth owes 14s, 4- and 6-tooth ewes 10s to 11s fid. f.m. ewes 7s 6d to 9s 7(1, cull ewes 3s to Os 6d, rams 12s 6d to £1 18s.
