NORTH ISLAND COMPETITION. Tho following are tho particulars of the 40th week of tho North Island Egglaying Competition;.— The total number of eggs laid during the week was 1323, being an average of 18.90 eggs per pen. Tho grand total was 57,969, or an average of 828.12 eggs per pen. Tho monthly. prise of ss, for most eggs laid during the month of January, 1910, was won in tho light section hy pen No. 65, W. G. Caro, White Leghorns, with a total of 132 eggs; mu! in tho heavy section by pen No. 40, C., Hammond, White Rocks, with a total of 89 eggs. The highest layings for the week were; Championship Class. —W. G. Goodwin, White Leghorns, 24. Light Breeds.—Sirs. J. Salt, White Leghorns, 31; W. 6. Care, White Leghorns, 30; A. H. Padman, White Leghorns, 29. Heavy Breeds.—W. D. Shepherd, Black Orpingtons, 28; A. arid P. Association, Black Orpingtons, 28; Miss 0, Roberts, Silver Wyaudottes, 24.
