Mr. P. S. Wbitcombe, secretary to the Taranaki Education Board, has returned from Wellington. Mr. W. Empson, late master of Wanganui Collegiate School, who with Mrs. Empson has been on a tour abroad, have returned to New Zealand. The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) has not quite recovered, but hoims to be able to be about again in a day or two. He will probably go South early next week.—Dominion. It is understood that Colonel 11. J. Collins, who has been appointed Audi-tor-General, will be under the necessity of resigning his position on the Council of Defence, as it is provided that the Auditor-General shall hold no other office of emolument or trust under the General Government. Mr. L. A. Abraham, of,.Palmerston, hou. secretary of the Manawntu Golf Club, has received word from Homo that two professional players—James M'Ewon, lato head professional at Queen’s Park, Bournemouth, and James Johnston, an assistant to the famous James Braid —are .coming out to tho dominion from England, and either may bo engaged as coach for a term during the coming season.
