INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Own Correspondent) , The Inglewood annual school picnic was held yesterday in magnificent weather. The special train for the, broak- • water carried some 800 passengers, big and little, and landed them safely back in the evening, tired, sandy, and sunburnt, hut quite happy. Needless to say the Inglewood streets wore quite deserted all day, and children could not bo captured for love or money. I hear that there is a probability of the Inglowood Athletic Club running a swimming sports shortly. There aro quite a number of promising swimmers at the baths and it is to he hoped that entries will come in freely. The Toko and Now Plymouth Wanderers cricket teams met at Inglowood yesterday afternoon. Wanderers proved victorious by a small margin. The Inglowood fowling Club's rinks mot defeat on the Fitzroy greens yesterday afternoon by the small -margin of seven points. The annual prize giving of the local Methodist Church was held in the church on Tuesday evening last. Tho attendance of parents was rather disappointing, the songs and choruses rendered .by the children meriting ’ a larger audience. The school has now a roll number of 70, with an average attendance of 58i There aro 41 names on tho craUlo roll. The first prizes wore, won by Misses Evelyn Fawcett and Annie Hutchinson, both of whom have attended church and Sunday School every Sunday in the year. Mr. W. Burrows, the local photographer. moved into his new studio last Wednesday. “Your Own” had the pleasure of inspecting the rooms, which in addition to a splendidly lighted studio, contain a show room, An up-to-date dark room, a ladies’ and men’s dressing room. Tho studio ranks favourably with any in tlie larger towns. It never rains hut.it pours! Two dentists have started visiting Inglewood within tho last month.
