FIRES.
BUILDING AT OKATO TOTALLY DESTROYED. (Special to Herald.) OKATO, Sept. 18. At about 10 o'clock last night a fintotally destroyed the shop, near the Stony Hivcr, on the main South Road, near Okato, belonging to Mr. John Clarke, plumber and tinsmith. .vlr. Clarke, who lives a couple of chains away from the shop, was awakened bj the roof of the building falling in. There was no insurance on the building or stock and as Mr. Clarke had just got in new stock for the summer trade he is a heavy loser, probably to the extent of £lo<) to £170. Two traps wore in a loau-to adjoining the shop, but these Mere saved. Mr. Clarke cannot <k count tor the cause of the outbreak.
