N. Z. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING.

Per Preaa Association. AUCKLAND. Sept. 17. The New Zealand golf championship meeting at Cornwall Park link* advanced another stage to-day, when the third round and semi-finals of the amateur championship were played. Some very exciting matches took place, notably that between J.. O. Barns and W- B. Colbeck, both of Auckland. The semifinal match was not won until two extra rounds were played. . The general impression is that Duncan will beat Burns in the final of the amateur ohampionstiip to-morrow. J. A. Clements (Wanganui) and F. O. Hood (Auckland) will get in the final of. the professional championship tomorrow. A driving competition to-day was won by C E. Kusabs, who drove the ball 256 yards. The approaching and putting competition was won by E. D. O'Rorke, who Jjoled out in 2 from a. distance of 140 yards. The prices won during the meeting, will be presented by Lady Plunket tomorrow afternoon. The tie in the second medal handicap between A. N. BarrauoT (Ifanawatu) and H. C. TonlA (Auckland) was played off this morning, resulting in a win for Barraud. <, The following is the. result of the third round of the match play for the amateur championship! — J. C. Bidwill' beat A. J. Abbott, 1 lip at the nineteenth hole ; A. Duncan beat J. Forbes; .2 up and- 1 to play ; J. C. Burns beat J. Harold, 3 up and 1 to play ; W. B. Colbeck beat H. T. Gillies, 3 up and 2 to play. ' The semiifinals resulted: A. Duncan beat J. C> Bidwill/ 3 up and 2to play ; ; J. C. Burns beat W. B. Colbeck, one up lat the twentieth bole. Duncan and Burns meet in the final. . *W. Bewley, of the Ngamotu Club, with a handicap of 5 was 6 down in the bogey handicap and H. Thomson, of the Ynglewood Club, Jutnttioap 8, was 9 down. J. C. Burns, on scratch, won ; the event 5 up. . ~ '
