AN AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Mr. Oormaek (Edinburgh) moved an amendment fbr/the ; app/>itr«Ben4 of commissioners to inquire into the question as it affected the different partis of the Empire, they who were present and the commissioners to afterward* confer and report jointly, with a view of enabling the Governments of Britain and the colonies and dependencies to take legislative action to give effect to the reaofation. Although Britain was the richest country she was unable to provide employment for a considerable proportion of her industrial population. The British were sending abroad wages that thepeople at home should be referring. They were spending for the support of the poor neariy aa much as they were spending for <the support of the na,ry.
