THE INQUEST.

An inquest touching Mr. Crawford's : death was held by Mr. H. S. Fitsjherbert, S.M., district coroner, this afternoon. William P. Crawford, son of deceased, deposed that his father left the house to go down town about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday. Ho appeared then to be well. His .father's health was good as a rule. Deceased would have been 63 years old next month. William Riindle, settler, living in. New Plymouth, who had known deceased for many years and was with him when he died, stated that deceased appeared to be in his usual health! He dropped without speaking a word. Witness detailed the manner of Mr. Crawford's death, as already described,. Dr. G. Home deposed that he was caUed to the White Hart Hotel shortly before 8 o'clock on Saturday evening. ■Deceased was dead before witness arrived there. There were no indications as to the cause of death, and yesterday witness made a post-mortem examination of the body. He found death to be due to heart failure caused by disease of the left coronary artery, whereby it had become suddenly blocked with blood-clots. This disease was fairly common in old age, and existed without giving symptoms except the final fatal ono. The coroner found in accordance with the medical evidence.
