HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The report to be presented at the annual meeting of the New Plymouth Horticultural Society, to be held in the Toun Hall on Wednesday evening next, is as follows: —"The 'work for the past year must be considered fairly successful. Starting with a credit balance of £0 Is lid, we finish with a credit balance of £12 4s Id, making a profit for the year of £7 2s 2d. Wo started the year with a membership of 95, and now havo 127, un increase, of 32. This, we think, can easily be further increased during the coining year if members will ask their friends to subscribe. The balanco sheet shows that tbe receipts for the year were £90 12» lOd, inclusive of the balanco of £5 Is lid *in tand on May 31, 1908. Donations amounted to £10 13s, members' subscriptions £31, door takings at the show £30 ss, afternoon tea £2 16s sd, vegetable sale 14s, entry fees £15 3s, catalogue advertisements £2, unclaimed prize money £1 12s. The expenditure amounted to £87 8s 9d, including — Prize money £34 18s 6d, advertising and printing £14" 10s, judges' expenses £3, labour €4 Us 6d, carting los, orchestra £2 2s, secretary (salary and coimnision) £12 10s, hire of theatre £7
