NOTES BY RAMBLER.

Urenui, Juno 10.— The first of our monthly onrliic p.'iities and dances took place in the hall on Tuesday night, and was a splendid success. Something like f i ft y couples oat down to tho tables, and sonio seventeen games wero played Mr Ross won the men's prize with 1 \ amiis, Mr. Moody being second with 12 niis. Mrs. Sarah Bertrand was first in the ladies' "class, with Mrs. M'CormiHv second. Mr. A. Thompson was in charge, and Mrs. Pasere and assistants did tho marking of wins. After a splendid supper, the floor was cleared and a few dances finished a jtockl evening's amusement. Mr. Price, of the Moki Road, met with n bad accident a few days ago. He was splitting posts, when a piece flow up and caught him in the eye. It was feared he would lose the sight of it, hilt he went to a doctor, who dressed it, and hope-i aro entertained of his being saved. When Sir. H. Langman's express, with .stores- from Waitara. was at the. end of the metal at Uruti on Wednesday last, tho front axle broke in a mud-hole.
