On the Ni w Plymouth Sports Ground a poor but in some ways interesting gaino between Star and Inglewood tnded in the latter being badly beaten. Inglewood, who started play « ith two * institutes nnd later had to bring on ii .'other substitute, played pluckily but v thont skill. In the last fifteen nnnuios they fell away badly, and Star rattled up over a dozen points in that tm.o. Soon after the kick-off Star invaded, l.ay tho Inglewood forwards, battling hard, forced tho blacks out. Afjnin Star attacked. Several timos promising passing movements by tho Star backs were spoilt by Wbittnker's bad passes to Grant. 11 ill marked, nnd Clow bad a shot nt goal, but it was a poor attempt. Pike potted nt goal, and missed. The play was brisk, but ragged. At length Coker broke away nicely from a line-out and passed to Ryan. Just on Inglewood's line Ryan was collared, but be got away his pasw to Boulton, who scored. Clow's attempt to convert failed. Stnr 3, Inglewood 0. Again Star attacked, n rapid rally ending in Inglewood forcing. Ryan marked, and Clow had another shot at goal. It failed. Play remained in Inglowood's twenty-five for a long time, but Rtar could not pierce tho defence. A timoly # mark sent Inglewood pust half-way," and then they worked on to Star's twenty-five. Tho Rtar forwards broke nway and relieved. At this stage W. Brown (Inglewood) was hurt and bad to retire, his place being filled by R. Julian. Hill bad a pot at goal, just missing the goal-posts.
