ROADS AND RAILWAYS.

HON. HOGG INTERVIEWED.

Per Press Association. HAMILTON, May 1. The Hon. A. W. Hogg, interviewed last night, expressed himself in favour of a railway between Tauranga and Te Puke as early as possible, which, he said, was sure to pay at once. Referring to the financial stringency, h« said the Dominion was on the turn. He was convinced the money market would shortly bo easier than it had been during tho last two or three years. With regard to labour, he intended to keep the public "works fully «mployed as the Dominion- could afford it, and he did not think there would be. anything in tho shape of severe distress during the approaching winter. Ho favoured Native lands being dealt with in an effective manner as soon as possible ; also main arterial roads made before tlie bush land was thrown on tho market, thus saving a great deal of suffering on the part of «ettlor*.
