EARTH TREMOR IN SYDNEY.

By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. SYDNEY, April 29. 1 A very severe earth tremor was registered ' at tho Observatory shortly before midnight on the 27th, preceded by two smaller tremors. Tho maximum amplitude was 15.8 milimetres, and the large waves continued for nearly five minutes. Some of the series of succeeding waves reached six milimotres. Tho epicentrum of tho earthquake was 2000 or 3QOO miles north from Sydney, probably in tho seismic zone embracing the Philippines nnd surrounding islands.
