TIMBER FOR TARANAKI
OIL BORES AT GREYMOUTH. (Special to Herald.) TAIHAPE, April 29. The Timber Commission has had a busy time in Taihape. During the past- three days there have been over twenty-five witnesses examined, including Mr. H. Brown, saw miller, Inglewood, who said that a good supply of timber for Taranaki could be obtained when the Stratford-Ongarue Kaihvay was- completed. The majority of the witnesses favoured the using of the Dominion timber instead of foreign timber. - When at Greyraouth the members of the Commission visited the petroleum bores in the district. Two of the bores were abandoned owing to the salt water coming dn and (forming "gushers," which- reach heights o£. fifty and sixty feet respectively. ' On the advioe of Dr. Bell, geologist, fresh bores are being -put on higher ground. \
