TAIUKI

(From Our Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of householders! was held in the school on the 2Gth inst. and was well attended. Mr J. Jemison chairman of the outgoing committee, reported that eight meetings had been held during tho year which had all been attended by tho members except on one- occasion a member was absent owing to unavoidable circumstances. The master's residence had been built and Mr Eason was now a resident of Tariki. The average attendance was 92 and tho result of tho inspection had been very satisfactory, reflecting much credit on tho teaching staff. Mr Jemison was elected chairman to take charge of nic-ting and receive nominations for new committee. Ten nominations were received and a ballot result od in tho election of Messis. Rudkin. Buckinham, J. Thcrkloson, M. Jones, R. Jones, J. Hucker, and Stephenson. Mr Jemison, who has been chairman of tlie committee for seven years, much t. tho regret of tho householder*, declined nomination. During his term of oiiiee Mr Pemison has done a great deal for the benefit of the school affuirs and his services are dcsoi vedl> mnch appreciated by the T«nki public. Mr Bert. Lawrence, who has also (>o<>n -.i member of tho committee fo: a nirnuer of years, also declined nomination. V meeting of tho new committee was hold the same evening Mr Stephenson was elected chairman and Mr Iludkin lion secretary and treasurer. It was decided to hold a picnic and school conceit about the end of Jlav. Tho lack of sufficient room in tho sthool grounds for the boys to play football was brought forward and a sub-committee was appointed to confer with tho committee of the Tariki Football Club with n view to renting a suitable ground for the purpose.
