TARANAKI COMPANY.

Inquiries this morning olicitod the fact that matters are proceeding smoothly at the No. 2 bore of tho Taranaki Petroleum Company. The pump continues to work .satisfactorily.

HADLEY COMPANY.

At the bore of the Hadley Company, situate on 'he Carrington Road, tho manager, Mr. O'Dowda, has div my; the last week succeeded in shutting off tho water with his Bin. casing at a depth of 1775 feet. Since this the well has been drilled to a greater depth and the 6in. casing lowered down to 1800 foot. Tliis was necessitated ouing to the country caving in at the bottom of the bore, and it wiH now form protection for the streak on which the Sin. casing is sitting. With tho country now being drilled important developments misht be expected any clay.
