WEDDING.

BENNETT— ROBERTS.

A pretty wedding was solemnised in St .Mary's Church, New Plymouth, on Thursday, the contracting parties being Mr. Samuel F. Bennett,, of Taihape, and formerly a member of the New Plymouth railway ?Bsqff,'> and Miss Edith Maud Roberts, efcfest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Hoberts, of New, Plymouth. The wedding created a great deal of local interest and there was a large attendance at the church. The bride was given away by her father.. She wore a beautiful Empire gown of cream chiffon taffeta and the usual veil and wreath of orange blossom, and carried a shower bouquet. The brides maids were Misses Annie Roberts and Winnie Roberts, sisters -of the bride, and L. Preston. Miss A. JJpberts and Miss Preston wore floral heliotrope Empire gowns and large" white picture hate to match, and Miss Winnie Roberts a pink floral Empire' gown with hat to match. They all carried shower bouquets. The Rev. F. G. Evans, Vicar of St. Mary's, was the officiating clergyman. Mr. C. R. A. Kenning, of Nelson, acted as best man, and Messrs. L. L. Cock (of New Plymouth) and A % H. Blmes (of Napier) as groomsmen. The reception, which was subsequeptly held in the Brougham Street Hall, was attended by a large gathering of friends. The bride's gift to the bridegroom was a topaz pendant and the bridegroom's present to the bride a t neck chain and pendant. The bridegroom presented to the bridesmaids gold bangles and pendant. The wedding presents .were numerous, useful and valuable, among them being v the. wedding cake, the gift of Mr. Alf. Hart, Feilding, formerly of New Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett were passengers for the South, en route to Wellington, by the 6.25 p.m. train. The bride's travelling dress was a brown silk taffeta voile with hat to match.
