DISAPPOINTED IMMIGRANTS.
ALLEGED MISREPRESENTATIONS Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, F«b. 17. Several of the immigrants who arrived by the Fifeshire yesterday, and* who have not secured employnient so far, compUin bitterly of the misrepresentations Vhich they allege are made at Home regarding the case with which employment may be obtained in the Dominion. The representatives of local labour unions state that there is no Toom here for more workers. Most classes of trade are already slack. ' At the meeting of the Trades and Labour Council to-night, the Government's immigration policy was strongly condemned, and it was resolved to appoint a deputation to wait on the Prime Minister and place the facts before him; to send a warning to the chairman of tho British Labour Representation Committee of the House of Commons against immigrants coming out here; to call an indignation meeting at the earliest possible moment; and to request the Government to sltop assisted immigration for at least one year.
