CHAMPIONS AT PLAY.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Dec. 21. Lawn tennis exhibition matches, Wilding v. Parker (singles) and Wilding and Grossman v. Parker and Fisher (doubles), took place this afternoon oil the Eden- and Epsom courts. There was a large attendance, including Sir Joseph Ward and party. In the singles Parker beat Wilding, 8-^-6, 6—4.6 — 4. Wilding appeared to have an off day, and at various stages slackened off considerably. Parker's hitting was invariably ivell directed. He frequently coaxed Wilding out of position by clever manoeuvring- In the doubles Pkrker and Fisher beat Wilding and Grossman in the first set, 6—4.6 — 4. The second set went to Wilding and Grossman, B—6.'8 — 6.' At this stage Wilding retired. Wilding, Parker, and Fisher left by the express this evening for Wellington en route to Nelson.
