TARANAKI SALES.

NEWTON KINGS REPOKT. Mr Newton King reports: On Tuesday last I held my iourweekly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow". The catalogue comprised 8D!I hides, o'Sio calfskins, 2112 sheepskins, 81 sacks and 10 bales of wool, 19 casks and 17 tins tallow, besides the usual assortment of bones, horsehair, horns, etc. In consequence of the better tone of the- market, fleece wool and the best lines of sheep skins ad\ anted id to Id per lb, while crutchings, locks, etc.. did not show much improvement. Prices for calfskins advanced from id to id per lb according to quality, and 1 am able, to report having obtained the highest price paid in Stratford this season—Sid per II). Expert classing and attention to other requirements induced the payment of the utmost value. Hides sold well at late rates. Skins. —Butchers' fine Gd to^GJd. coarse sid to s£d or 5s Gd to 7s 3d each, hoggets s\d to S:UI, second quality woolly 4£d to sid, half rwools 4d to 4}d, dead 4d, damaged 3d to 3?d, part damp woolly 5s to 6s 3d, half-wools 3s 6d to 4s 6d, black 3s 7d, lambs Is 2d to Is 9d, pelts 9d to Is 2d, salted 4s 4d to 5s 6d, lambs Is" to Is Dd, pelts lid to Is 6d. I Hides.—Butchers' ox, stout. Gd to Gid, medium 5d to a^l. light 4;Jd to sd, cut ox 4gd to sid, butchers' cow heavy 4=Jd to 45d, medium <l£d to 4\<l, light 4*d to 4j;d, cut cow 4id to 4g, yearlings 4ijd to sd. farmers' ox 4d to s',d, cow 3£d to 43d, cut cow 3\d to 'Mil, slippy Id to 31d, stags 2^l to 3^l, horse hides 5s Gd to 9s Gd, cut horse 3,s 6d to 4s 3d. Calfskins.—Rest clean lines 7gd to Bid, good 7d to 7}d. medium Gjjd to 6£d, cut 4§d to 5Jd, slippy 3:] dto 4}d, dry Gd to Is Gd each. tallow.— In casks, best mixed 23s 3d to 23s 6d, medium 22s Gd to 235, in tins 22s 3d. Sundries.—Cow tails Is od to Is Gd per doz, horse hair Is 2d per lb, horns 2s to 9s Gd per 100.
