WAITARA HARBOUR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Waitara Harbour Board was held last evening. Present:' Messrs. Stubbs (chairman), Chappel, Foreman, Williamson and Jenkins.

The board's solicitor wrote asking tho board's approval of the transfer of Mr. Williamson's buildings in McLean street to Mr. Cos^ar. Tho transfer \\"dH granted, subject to all rents being paid. Thos. Borthwick and Son wrote ask-j ing if tho board would accept the stir-! render of the old lease of the works! and grant a new lease under the iiew conditions. The board went into committee to deal with the application. The Taranaki County Council made a demand for rates on the board's reserves held by lessees. The board decided to adhere to tho terms of the letter sent to the Council. Mr. Andrews' lighting account was held over, and the Works Committee was instructed, to interview Air, Andrews with regard to I'tifriire lighting.

It was resolved that the expenses of tho chairman's visit to Wellington on business in connection with the bridge loan should be paid. Tho report ok the special committee dealing with the leasing of the board's endowments whs adopted.

Mr. C. K. Dow sett, engineer, forwarded plans p.iid estimates ol the proposed ihmv f eiTO-emiei'ete liritli^e at a proximate cost of €9000. Th^ chairman was instructed to take the plans to Wellington and endeavour ts> $>et a suhsidy for the re-building ci the Waitara bridge. Accounts amounting to C i.l I.'^ 2d were passed for payment.
