His nephew, a German protege, was released, and thereupon Germany claimed the Kaid's release, and showed a list of seven members of thfe Kaid's family as being Ger-man-protected subjects. Mincbhi replied that the Kaid w>*s solely a Moorish official and not a protege, and that Germany was overstepping her rights. Germany's excuse j s that the JKaid served Mulai Hafid's interests well.
