PARIHAKA ROAD BOARD.

'' "Tfie moKlMy meeting of the Pari. haka Road Board was held on Wednesday last. The members preseni were: Messrs J. Young (chairman) Deegan, Harvey, Warner and Tyle©., The Chairman moved that, a genera rate of id in the £ should be made. This was seconded by Mr Harvey. Messrs Warner and Tylee moved at amendment that the ratesshould be Jd Some discussion followed, members ar guing that a rate of id was ample to* some roads, and that those roads thai it would not suffice for should go foi special or separate rates. Mr Deegan supported the rate of it and this motion was carried.

It was decided to give the Crowii Company fourteen days' notice to re move the gate from the Rahotu Roadj as the Board intended to qulvert ant drain the road and open it for traffic. The foreman was instructed to do thi work.

Settlers at the top end of the Kirn Road petitioned the Board to raise 1 loan of £500 for forty4orie years at 3* per cent, to make about one mile, nj. to Wiremu Road. — The Board agreeo to take steps to procure the loan. At the last meeting the Board voted £10 more towards patching on Ihbia Road provided the? settler* found/ a similar amount. The settlers promised £11 10s. — The Board sanctioned work to the cost of £21 10s to be done by S. Vickery. Mr Feaver wrote asking for the toj end of Ihaia Road to be made "navi gable" for a milk cart, and enclosed £t from himself and £1 from, Mr Soren sen, as a donation towards the cost. The foreman estimated the work, 1 wottk cost £15. The Board decided that the I work should be done by the foreman'i staff. Messrs Young, Warder and Tylec were appointed to wait on the Egmoni County Council with a view to' making cheap terms for hire of- the crusher. It was resolved td apply to the Public Trustee for part of grant to Punihi and Ihaia Roads. Tenders are to be called for making ten chains of the, Kaweora Road, and also for forming eighteen chains on the upper Waiteika Road. On the suggestion of the foreman ii was decided to ask the Public Trustet to fell some bush on the side of Opourapa Road, as the shade kept the Road wet. . , The Clerk laid an informatior against thp Board's horse for breaking the office window, 3ft square. The horse had been allowed to run on the roads — It was decided to haye the glass pui in,^ and give the horse xhree months (ii It was agreed to find timber for the Dairy Company to put in the culvertr required and the approach to th< creamery being bHiilt on Kahui Road. The Roads Department asked for the Board's consent to the Carrington Roao deviation.— Agreed to. General accounts to the amount o'. £236 and loan accounts £84 were pass ed for payment.
