The Education Board referred to the Commissioners a request of the Fitz- , roy School Committee that land should Be purchased for the purpose of a school garden. , / It was resolved, on, the motion of Messrs. FauU and Simpson, that the^ Education Board should be informed the Commissioners were unable to accommodate the committee in the manner desired. LEASES TO BE OFFERED BY TENDER. Mrs. T. L-jJoJU wrote requesting that the Board would offer for -*ease by tender for a term to expire by September 30, 1927, that portion of section 221, block XV., Kaupokonui S.D., containing 4fe6ut~lß& acres, which she now held on an annual tenancy. It was decided to offer the land for lease for a term oi 19 yeai;s from October 1, on^-thfy conditions of perpetually recurring renewals now in use by the -Commissioners. PROPOSED PROSPECTING. 4 An application was received from Mr. ■A. W. Locke for leave %o transfer his lease of section 150, Hua, district, 180 acres, to Mrs. Linda' Elizabeth Hadley, of Auckland,, gaining engineer, and Mrs. Hadley applied for leave to prospect for and mine claysj'icaolm, gttnniswr, ligffttre^ — coal and othe; minerals in and upon the land. Mr P. A,. Hadley appeared, ik support of these applications and Mated that he held ' Power of Attorney from his wifei In reply to a question as to why the application was not made in his own name Mr Hadley stated that the business belonged to his wife, who had inherited it, ' After Mr Hadley had retired the Board resolved' on the motion of Messrs Faull and Wade, that consideration of these applications should be held over until next meeting and, that the Chairman and Mr Simpson should make inquiries and report. NEW LEASES. Applications for new leases were received'as follows: — J. tf. Ohanman, jun., for section 9, blook 4, Mimi S.D., 98 acres, and Leonard Bacon for section 6, block 4, Upper Waitara S.D!, 880 acres. Both were granted. ' Sigis Schultz and Minnie Schultz alsa applied for a lease of the latter block, but as their < application was not' received until some days later than Mr Bacon's the Board followed put its usual custom and granted the lease to the first applicant. ■ % TRANSFERS. The secretary reported that he had received a lengthy letter from Mr John Willis, lessee of section 15, block 11, Ohura S.D., as to his troubles with the Road Department in connection with the deviation* of. ' tne Waitewhen.ua Road. He -had' also, received from the District, liand Registrar , formal notice of caveat which had been entered against, any dealings, the caveator being the Hon 1 . the Minister for Roads. The Chairman reported that the solicitor had called his attention to the fact that a number of renewal leases could not be executed owing to the fact that the lands had been brought under the provisions of the Land Transfer Act on a boundary survey without taking into account the fact that •it had been subdivided. He had therefore caused a subdivisional survey to be made in adcordance the occupation boundaries. — Tho - chairman's action was approved. Accounts amounting to £49 12s were passed for payment.
